Christie.

Hello folks! It's been a bit since I've popped on here. My apologies. I have been particularly busy of the late. And this post is a leeetle explanation of why. It has been given the name of "Christie", based on the book "Work, a Story of Experience".

It started on August 19 with auditions. We were given our parts on that nerve-filled afternoon. My dear Maria was given the lead. Soon after, practice started. We started off ever so slowly even with two practices a week. We came to a conclusion about a month ago that we indeed were too slow. Therefore two extra practices from nine to eleven p.m. were added for each remaining week. Well, we made it through the entire script! But the true question was, would we be able to maintain our sanity and pull this thing off? We had our first run-through this past Sunday. It was a crash and burn, and gave us the kick in the butt we needed.

You need to understand something about this play. There are about 25 scene changes. Maybe a bit more. We were not good with these changes. Therefore, our Sunday rehearsal was pitiful indeed and took a few days off of all our lives from stress. Except our director, bless his heart, who knew this would happen.

So the next day during practice we just ran through scene changes. Such a relief. We had our first dress rehearsal on Tuesday; full makeup and costume changes. We started at eight, in the evening. You may start questioning our sanity with that fact alone, but we could not get into the church any sooner! So we got into makeup and got our *hair did* and were ready to start sometime soon thereafter. Or maybe a few hours later. I don't exactly remember what time we started our run-through, but we did sometime or other! We had first full run-through. It went "aight", but had much room for improvement. Most people got home sometime between four and four-thirty. a.m.

We have now had two performances, and about one hundred people total. We get that these people deserve a grand show, but big crowds are fun! It is quite enjoyable either way, I must say. Our first night felt like a dress rehearsal, and we didn't do the best we could have. We have learned. Last night we were all pumped before the show, and it continued to afterwards at mickydee's and even until we all returned to our humble abodes. And it did go better, but as our director says, "When there is no longer room for improvement, we have no reason to do it anymore.". (Or something similar to that.)

Well, today is Saturday and there is something else at the church today so we have one day off! Which is why I finally have time to write again. Lucky you!!

"What is this lovely play about and do we still have a chance to see it?", you ask? At this point I shall tell you that this play is being performed at Living Water Mennonite Church in Goshen. The dates are the 17th, 18th, 20th, 24th, 25th, & 26th of October. That's right folks, two weekends! We figured if we are gonna do all this work, we might as well do it two weekends! Lovely idea, not? The play is interesting to explain, so I will just write the summary that in printed inside the program. Eh hem.

"From the world of 'Little Women' comes another poignant story that will move you with laughter and tears. During the middle of the 19th century, the strong-willed, orphaned teenager, Christie, sets out to be her own person, not dependent on any relatives or a husband to support her, but to earn her own living and maintain her self-respect. Over a period of twenty years she encounters times of happiness and hardship, meets rich and poor people who influence her life, gets involved with tragic and joyous events, and eventually finds herself a woman. Based on Louisa May Alcott's farsighted novel 'Work', this play will take you on a journey that is filled with a reaffirming life."

So come watch us? See you soon? Okay! Laters!

Musing of a Younger Me.

Death can be a cruel monster, or it can be a darling lamb. Why would it viciously claim the life of a beautiful twelve year old girl, or a charming nine year old boy? But yet Grandma accepted it willingly, with grace and beauty.      God called them all by name to Him, and lets us ask questions. Now, don't get me wrong, I love God and don't wish to doubt His judgement. But I do wonder, why do beautiful children have to die in painful ways? What about the families? And friends? They are all just left to grieve and remember. To adjust and ponder. To question, "God, why?"     We don't know the answers right now. We may someday know, or not till we reach heaven. But God has a beautiful reply for each question we ask. And finally, when we reach heaven, we will see the beautiful part of the picture. We will smile and tell God, "I love you. Thank you for Your comfort, and thank you for never leaving me."     *And thus ends the short musings of my you

Greetings.

Hey you! Welcome to my unpretentious blog. I've wanted to start a blog for a bit. You know, like an online journal. Except everyone can read this!!! EEEK! If you dare to venture back here again someday you may find a various assortment of ramblings, thoughts, and the many other things that happen in my life and head. I'm not planning to have a rigid schedule, at all, like, no plans whatsoever. So I guess we'll see how often I post. But for now I will bid you adieu.
