Isn't it a wonderful thing? Imagining... Stories. Pictures. Places. Colors. Shapes.
And isn't it a slightly sad thing that imagination seems to fade with the rise of addicting TV shows and movies? Yeah.... you get to SEE all the vibrant colors and glorious landscapes, but you don't have the privilege to ENVISION it yourself! Perhaps that is the reason people get disappointed in movies that are based on books; your mind has a much different view of each scene. I know this from experience. I also know that movies tend to somewhat put your imagination in a box. You see, I spent this one summer just watching kids TV shows on da' YouTube. I now admit that it was my least creative summer. I never had any adventures in my mind. [ I have a habit of letting my mind wander and make up tales of every kind. Eh heh. Oops!] Even when I had my own stories to make up, I never had my own original characters or settings; they were somebody else's - things I had seen.
I'm not saying eliminate all visual narratives, but make sure you take time to read! Fiiiiiine, you don't like to read {which I find ridiculous 'cause books hold the most suspenseful adventures of all}so then find an audio book or have somebody read to you! Same idea goes for if you don't have to to sit down and actually take the time to read! :D (Yes, I am extremely pro-literature, ifyoucouldn'talreadytell!)
Maybe you don't share my love for novels and legends. Which is totally fine! But do your best to use your brain for other creative outlets! There's super-cool stuff like painting, hiking, collecting, and creating unique, well, *creations*. I know for a fact that there are even more amazingly wonderful ideas out there!!
I would urge you to find something out there that intrigues you and stretches your imagination! God is creative with everything He made; so since we're made in His image, should not we desire to be creative? Let your imagination soar to times past - times of daring princes and forever green fields. Times of battles lost and won. Times of the future - the talking walls and genetically-modified super-vision.
But if you "really don't have time" for all that "nonsense", then at the least imagine the person you want to be. Yes, I heartily think that too is important. The story of your life is one that can be forever molded and retold.
